It is ideal for both first-timers and returnees to unravel the treasure of this great country, and the 7-day plan will ensure the full enjoyment of your vacation in this country. From medieval Dubrovnik to national parks in lush meadows and idyllic islands, there's much to explore for an unforgettable journey.
This tour has been scheduled to give you an all-rounded taste of everything Croatia has in store. Given the time constraint of just one week, each day has been crammed with the best highlights while leaving moments of relaxation in between.
Whether you're into history, nature, food, or beach days, you'll find something to love. Heres a 7-day Croatia itinerary that will take you through some of the countrys most iconic destinations.
Begin your Croatian adventure in the city of Dubrovnik, a famous city for its incomparable ancient old town and spectacular city walls. Once you arrive, take a stroll along Old Town, also a UNESCO World Heritage site, to feel its ancient architecture, such as the Rector's Palace and Dubrovnik Cathedral. Take a walk along the city walls for a panoramic view of the Adriatic Sea, and spend an evening looking out over a seafood dinner at a seaside restaurant where the sun sets over the glittering waters. Dubrovnik is a quaintly beautiful place and would be a great introduction to your journey to Croatia.
On your second day, discover the secrets of Dubrovnik. Take the Dubrovnik Cable Car to Mount Srd for breathtaking views of the city and coastline. Then, take a short boat ride to Lokrum Island, which lies just offshore. On the island are beautiful botanical gardens, a saltwater lake, and the remains of a 12th-century monastery. Spend some hours wandering about and return to Dubrovnik for the quiet evening. If you have time, you can walk along the city walls for a late-night stroll to end the day in calmness.
Travel to Split, Croatia's second-largest city, where ancient Roman history meets a lively modern atmosphere. Begin by visiting the spectacular Diocletians Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the palaces courtyards, chambers, and halls, many of which are still used today as shops and cafes. Next, wander through Splits bustling markets, offering fresh produce and local goods. Don't forget to try a traditional Croatian pastry like burek or fritule. In the evening, stroll along the Riva, Splits vibrant seafront promenade, and enjoy a relaxed dinner while admiring sunset views over the sea.
On day four, take a short drive to the charming town of Trogir, known for its medieval architecture and UNESCO World Heritage status. Explore Trogirs narrow streets and visit St. Lawrence Cathedral, one of the towns architectural highlights. In the afternoon, head to Krka National Park, renowned for its stunning waterfalls, including Skradinski Buk. You can hike the parks scenic trails, swim in its clear waters, and visit historic sites like the old mills and monasteries. After a day of natural beauty and history, return to Split for a relaxing evening.
Day five is completely devoted to Hvar Island. Every day of your visit will be an interesting experience of lively evenings, beautiful beaches, and landscapes. Start your day by exploring Hvar Town: its lively harbor and marble streets, as well as the ancient Hvar Fortress. You can go to one of the calmer beaches of Hvar, for example, Dubovica, where the water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming. If you visit Hvar in the afternoon, I recommend definitely doing a boat tour to the Pakleni Islands, where you'll find secluded beaches and a very peaceful atmosphere. Hvar is also famous for its evening life, so if one enjoys dancing, there's enough energy in the evening.
On day six, travel to Rovinj, a picturesque town on the Istrian Peninsula. Known for its colorful buildings, cobblestone streets, and scenic waterfront, Rovinj is one of Croatias most charming destinations. Visit St. Euphemias Church, located at the top of a hill, and climb the bell tower for breathtaking views of the town and sea. In the afternoon, take a stroll through the old town, where galleries, cafes, and shops line the narrow streets. Rovinj is also known for its culinary delights, so be sure to sample local Istrian varietals, truffles, and seafood.
On the final day of your Croatia itinerary, head to Pula, a city with one of the best-preserved Roman theaters in the worldthe Pula Arena. This stunning structure once hosted gladiator fights, and today, it serves as a venue for concerts and festivals. After exploring the arena, take a walk along Pula's beautiful waterfront, where you can enjoy views of the sea. If you have time, visit the Temple of Augustus and the Arch of the Sergii before making your way to the airport for your departure. It's a perfect end to your Croatian adventure.
This 7-day Croatia itinerary gives you a little bit of everythinghistoric towns, beautiful beaches, stunning national parks, and vibrant island life.
